Nobody Expects the Saddleback Inquisition!

Mon Aug 18, 2008 at 02:31:21 PM PDT

At the Saddleback Faith Inquisition, err, Forum, both McCain and Obama were asked, "Who are the three wisest people that you know, and that you would rely on heavily in your administration?"

Obama:

His Wife
His Grandmother
Too many valid perspectives to limit to three

McCain:

General Petraeus
John Lewis
Meg Whitman

Fair enough and true to form, Obama was truthful and tactful; McCain was truthful and shooting from the lip.

The contrast in approach and thought process aside . . . Meg Whitman? The General and John Lewis were typical examples of McCain's pandering/bolstering version of straight-talk. No real surprises there – though Mr. Lewis may disagree. But Whitman? Really? OK, I'll play along.

McCain Econ Policy: We Should All Work for Ebay.

Sat Aug 16, 2008 at 07:14:43 PM PDT

So at tonight's forum at Saddleback Church with Reverend Rick Warren, both candidates were asked which three people they would rely on for counsel and wisdom during their presidency.  One of the people McCain chose was Meg Whitman, the former President and CEO of EBay.

According to McCain Ebay has created 1.5 million jobs for people who are now 'making a living' using EBay.  You have got to be f-ing joking me?

And this is the clown who passed gave Obama shit by passing out tire-pressure gauges?

"Ebay" poll has Obama up

Tue Jul 29, 2008 at 12:28:41 PM PDT

For something a little bit on the lighter side but, has some validity.  Let's look at a "new poll" that I have formulated. There are no sampleing sets, no particular demographic - I don't look at likely voters, age, party affiliation, voters, race, religion etc.  This is new and represents change in polling.

Adopt an at-risk Republican

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 06:40:24 PM PDT

A few weeks ago I made a high stakes bet with a Republican. The loser has to listen to 90 days of the winner's favorite radio talk show. In my case, I'd have to listen to Rush (EVERY day) and miss Randi Rhodes and Thom Hartmann.  If I win, my Republican friend (yes, friend!) has to listen to Randi and Thomm. If my Obama poster fundraiser fails to get an average of 100 hits per 90 remaining ebay auctions, I lose.

Total hits so far: 874
Average hits per auction: 79
Biggest "hit" auction: 418 - the one auction linked to Kos!

Click here to visit the auction and make a necon squirm!

No bidding necessary, I need page views to win the bet!

An Open Blog Post To John McCain

If I lose this bet with a dittohead, I may literally go insane.

Thu Jul 10, 2008 at 04:48:28 PM PDT

So my first Obama fundraising poster sold on Sunday for almost $60, and I thought that was pretty great. The buyer has already left me glowing feedback on ebay. A fine start to a summer project, I think. I mentioned this casually to a friend, and her husband scoffed. "Musta been the only Obama supporter with a job," he said, "or some stupid kid looking to waste their daddy's money on ebay." He continued to roll his eyes as I told him the poster got 13 bids and at least 100 page visits. "So? I bet the next one won't even get 10 visits!" And so the argument began... the same argument I've been having with him for five years.

Economists Blast McCain's eBay Economy

Tue Jun 24, 2008 at 10:29:04 AM PDT

Two months after I first highlighted John McCain's prescription of eBay as the cure for what ails the economy, economists are finally weighing in.  As Bloomberg reports, the feedback isn't pretty.  While McCain, who has admitted knowing little about economics and even less about computers, may envision a nation of auctioneers, "new people selling stuff out of their closet on EBay isn't growing the economy."

McCain's Answer for Poverty? eBay!

Tue Jun 24, 2008 at 07:32:43 AM PDT

In Martin County, Kentucky this week, John McCain added another one his "Forgotten Places" to the growing list of places his campaign would now like to forget. With a straight face, McCain told the residents of the economically devastated region that eBay represents their economic future. And he did so by appropriating the words of Meg Whitman, who just happens to be not only McCain's national campaign co-chair, but the former CEO of eBay.

ACTION ALERT: EBay & Racist T-Shirts

Thu Jun 19, 2008 at 04:03:04 PM PDT

Some of you Kossacks know I sent around an action item on Sunday morning via mybarackobama.com regarding an idiot who was selling racist t-shirts on EBay.

The guy was selling those monkey with a banana t-shirts and even after more than several of us reported the seller, EBay did nothing.

I had originally emailed the Seller to ask him if he knew the shirts were racist just to see how he would respond.  He responded with "did you know you are stupid?"   I then responded that he was reported and he wrote back to say he reported me and to leave him alone.  I know that others have contacted this guy as I saw some postings on the mybarackobama boards.

This guy is a real piece of work and now 4 days later and the asshat is back at it.

Happy, sappy and now, laughy.

Sun May 11, 2008 at 01:27:22 PM PDT

I'm happy to report that there are now 30 bids for the Obama necklace I posted about yesterday. I'm more happy and sappy than ever! Thanks to all of you who posted such kind words yesterday, I emailed Afsaneh and told her about all of you. Yes, she truly is a shining example of the Obama message. The ebay auction to benefit Obama ends tonight, and looks like the amount for Obama just may match Afsaneh's gift to me! Wow, huh? Obama people are just amazing.

For those you who were annoyed by Joe Lieberman bashing Obama on CNN this week, this really oughta entertain you. I searched for Lieberman news on CNN. Get a load of the results! (I swear it's real, not a joke!)

Liberman according to CNN: Neanderthal man speaks after 30,000 years

The sappy, happy way the Obama campaign changed my life.

Sat May 10, 2008 at 07:30:21 PM PDT

Last month I drove the seven hours to Pennsylvania to volunteer for Obama. I was one of the 35,000 people cheering for Obama at the rally Philadelphia, and I canvassed in Harrisburg, Scranton and Reading. I returned home because I was painfully aware that I was about to be spending my rent money on gas, and I just couldn't afford another fill up. (I was laid off. Money is super tight -- but I have a promising second interview Monday!)

On the Obama blog, the night of the April 22 primary, I posted regrets that I couldn't donate because I found myself $300. short on my rent. (I had actually just put my car up for sale to pay my bills.) The next morning, an email shocked me. A fellow Obama supporter saw my post and offered to buy one of my Obama necklaces for $300. I was totally overwhelmed! Especially since my job hunt isn't going well...

As we emailed back and forth, her story really moved me. Born in Iran, she'd lived in

Hillary's dignity and class for sale on eBay

Fri Mar 14, 2008 at 08:56:03 AM PDT

Apparently drewt21 has found "Hillary Clinton's Dignity and Class" and has put it up for sale on eBay.

According to them:

You are bidding on very elusive and now discarded pieces of Hillary Clinton's character.  According to media reports and her own campaign's statements, Mrs. Clinton has apparently decided to severe all ties with her class and dignity after her loss in the Iowa primary.

Going For a Song...to the highest bidder, at least.

Mon Jan 07, 2008 at 08:11:27 AM PDT

So it begins....

With the 2008 Presidential caucuses and primaries occurring, it remains to be seen which Democratic candidate will win the nomination for the big push forward to the White House.  One thing that candidates have found as crucial for success is a good theme song.  Bill Clinton was able to use the song "Don’t Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow)" by Fleetwood Mac in his first presidential bid to such a degree that he not only won the final race but he was able to do the impossible: reunite the members of Fleetwood Mac to play at his first Inaugural Ball.  Pretty heady stuff.

Although most candidates these days seem to think they can do without a song in their hearts--or at least in their campaigns--the fact remains that just the right song can galvanize voters to such a degree that a landslide is almost inevitable.  So it had to happen that someone out there is auctioning off the temporary rights to a song which can be used for a Democratic presidential candidate.  Yes, this is really happening on ebay, where pretty much any goods or services can be had for the right price.

Mike and Joe's Excellent Adventure to Benefit Autism Speaks

Wed Dec 12, 2007 at 01:52:13 PM PDT

Last week I was at the 23rd International Electric Vehicle Symposium, otherwise known as EVS23. Last year I helped organize volunteers for the Electric Drive Transportation Association Conference (EDTA) coming from EVA/DC and found the experience so enlightening that this year I told myself that I would be at EVS23, which, by chance, was going to be run by my friends at EDTA. What I hoped and planned was to just be an attendant at EVS23 so I could see more of the panel discussions and spend more time talking to people and learning about what people are doing and where the industry was going. The best laid plans of mice and men.
