One Final Plea for Pooties- A Reprieve from Hillary-Land
Fri May 23, 2008 at 03:48:16 PM PDT
I'm making one final plea to help bring Pets for the Environment closer to their fundraising goal.
Pets for the Environment, headed by Eddie, are on a mission to make the world a cleaner, less toxic place for household pets. Foods and household items are a main source of chemicals that gather over time in our pets' (and our own) bodies. This is an issue near and dear to the hearts of all pet owners and animal lovers. It's time to force the FDA and pet food industry to change their ways and start protecting consumers and their pets.

With BioBags!
Over the past few months, I have commented a number of times about BioBags as an alternative to plastic bags in several diaries, and have received a fair amount of positive replies. But after reading Pale Cold's diary and seeing the video about the HUGE and distressing amounts of plastic caught in the Pacific (Plastic Oceans. Toxic-Garbage Island), I decided--with the encouragement of some fellow Kossacks--to post a diary about BioBags: a truly great product that can help us reduce plastic bag usage.

Tell the FDA to Protect Consumers, Not Industry
Sat May 17, 2008 at 08:19:59 AM PDT
Earlier this week I wrote a diary about Pets for the Environment, which is non-profit advocating for new regulations for pet food. They were hoping to participate in a public meeting sponsored by the FDA to allow consumers to express their views about the manner in which the pet-food industry is regulated (or not regulated, as last year's recall--as well as more recent "problems" that the FDA has dealt with quietly so as not to arouse the public's concern, demonstrates. This meeting turned out to be a sham when it was adjourned shortly after it began. The result: little to no public input.
But it's not too late to take action and demand that the FDA place consumers and their pets ahead of the pet food industry. Follow me below the fold to find out how you can help.
Action Alert! Calling all Pooties & Friends! Pet Lovers Unite! (FDA and Pet Food Testing
Tue May 13, 2008 at 09:57:45 AM PDT
Hi friends of Cats, Dogs, and all things scaly, feathered, and furry! It will come as no surprise that the FDA has been derelict in its duty to ensure that our beloved pets remain happy and healthy. We'll, there's an organization called Pets for the Environment that is seeking to create change by fighting for new regulations for pet-food manufacturers in Congress while simultaneously exposing the companies that are putting harmful chemicals in our pets' diets.

I became aware of the CASE Project (Community for Alternative Sources of Energy) and the students who founded it in January and wanted to write about them here to inform people about some pretty amazing high schoolers and to promote their Earth Day fundraiser, Green Scene, which is happening on Saturday, April 19 from 12-5pm at Northside Prep in Chicago. They are part of a trend that is dedicated to teaching individuals how they can make better choices that will have less of a negative impact on Planet Earth.
